Pool volume calculator: how many m³ in your pool?

Volume is the baseline figure of all maintenance: it drives treatment doses and filtration time. Choose your pool shape and enter its dimensions.

The result is an estimate: a very irregular floor or steps slightly reduce the actual volume.

How this calculation works

Volume is the water surface multiplied by the average depth:

  • Rectangular / square: Length × Width × Average depth.
  • Round: π × (Diameter ÷ 2)² × Average depth.
  • Oval: π × (Long axis ÷ 2) × (Short axis ÷ 2) × Average depth.

The average depth is (shallow depth + deep depth) ÷ 2 when the floor slopes. The volume is then converted to litres by multiplying by 1,000.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to know my pool volume?

Because every treatment dose and the filtration time are calculated from the volume. Get the volume wrong and all of the maintenance is off.

How do I estimate the average depth?

If the floor is flat, it is simply the water depth. If it slopes, take the average: (shallowest depth + deepest depth) ÷ 2.

My pool is neither round nor rectangular, what do I do?

For a free-form pool, approximate it to the nearest shape (often the oval), or split it into simple zones whose volumes you add up. The result stays a good estimate for maintenance.
